Do you believe that your lack of concentration is ruining the chances of a better grade? Do you believe that you will never be able to concentrate properly in your entire lifetime? If you think like that and believe only a few people – like the bright students in your class – have special attentive powers or focusing skills, then you are absolutely wrong.

Concentration is an inherent factor: Every one of us has been blessed with the power of concentration or attentiveness. If you have any doubts about this, just think of the times in which you were totally engrossed in watching interesting movies, TV serials, Internet, and so on. Try to recall all those incidents in which you were occupied so much so that you couldn’t even hear your mom shouting at you! Now, isn’t that something like total concentration?

As mentioned above, people have an inbuilt ability that allows them to concentrate on a particular task or activity. But most individuals concentrate on their routine work or hobbies without even being aware of it. Only a very few talented individuals are able to focus on a specific job or task like schoolwork or revisions. Hence they are able to reap the resultant benefits without making any extra efforts.

Concentration can also be improved: Even if you feel that you cannot focus on your studies unlike some of your blessed schoolmates, you don’t have to feel let down. Because, like any other skill, concentration can also developed step by step. If you are interested in improving your concentration, you should first uncover the reasons behind your poor or seemingly non-existent concentration.

After breaking down the factors behind your lack of concentration, you can easily come up with suitable remedies for restoring your focus. Then you can easily fix up a pattern of study and pass your exams with flying colors. Now, let us discuss about the ways of increasing your concentration.

• First of all choose an effective environment for studying and see to that you don’t doze off in the midst of your study session. For this, you should select a study zone that is comfortable and conducive for studying. Also remember to keep off from people, pets, or things that can distract you easily.
• Don’t miss your night’s sleep or meals as this will hinder your focusing power. You should also try to keep healthy snacks and water at hand, if you don’t want to get disturbed by sudden hunger or thirst in the midst of your study session.
• There’s no need for sitting continuously for the sake of studying. Take a break every one to two hours, as per your need, and this will improve your concentration.

For novices, things like improving concentration and attentiveness may seem a bit unrealistic. But once you get the hold of it, you will definitely get amazed with the results.
