How to Study For CA Exams

Chartered Accountancy is a very prestigious profession in our country. A profession which makes a single person expert of various domains. It gives you name, fame and everything you wish for. Although, CA is not easy. It has been recognized as the toughest course in the country. But proper planning, right guidance can help you clearing CA Exams very easily.

The Chartered Accountancy course is divided into three stages i.e. CA Foundation, CA Intermediate and CA Final. CA Foundation is the entrance test which tests your basic knowledge to pursue this course. CA Intermediate is the second level exam and last challenge is CA Final.

Here we will guide you How to study for CA Exams at all such levels. Have a look –

CA Foundation –

As we have already discussed that CA Foundation is the entrance test in the Chartered Accountancy curriculum. One can register for CA Foundation after completing XIIth Examination. After registration, one has to undergo four months of the study period. CA Foundation basically comprises of 4 subjects two of which are objective paper-based and two are subjective.

The course at this level is much similar to your 11th and 12th standard (if belongs to commerce stream). Therefore, you have to pay proper attention towards building strong concepts from 11th and 12th also. After XIIth examination, you will get enough 4 months time period to revise your syllabus and also study some new subjects like the mercantile law.

Students should join a proper CA coaching institute right after completing 12th Exams and complete such at least a month before your exams. So that, you will get enough time to do self-study which is utmost important.

You should also know the smart use of calculator because a 12-digit calculator is permitted in the CA Exams. It saves your very precious time while completing the paper.

At last, solve a number of Test Papers which can help you in attempting the Final Paper with proper care. If you follow the above steps, you can easily clear CA Foundation. The entry in CA course is easier in comparison to other professional courses like medical (PMT) or engineering (IIT-JEE). Once you qualify CA Foundation, you will become eligible to enroll for CA Intermediate.

CA Intermediate –

After the entrance test, CA Intermediate is the first level in Chartered Accountancy course. The level of CA Intermediate is five times up from CA Foundation. Do not take it lightly. Here, students will get eight months of the study period to prepare for CA Intermediate. The course at this level is vast and needs a consistent study throughout eight months.

The course of CA Intermediate is divided into eight subjects and further, these eight subjects are divided into two groups. The course at this level is huge and needs a proper revision. Your concepts should be strong because cramming will not work here. Need to prepare your course under a proper guidance. Join a proper coaching and let it complete at least 2 months before the Examination for the self-study.

CA Examinations does not follow any trend like B.com, M.com. Anything which you consider less important can be asked in your examination. So, complete your 100% course and it’s better to refer ICAI Material for the complete coverage of your syllabus and practice number of questions from the Practice Manual provided by ICAI. You can also go through the suggested answers shared by ICAI in each attempt.

Students should attempt at least two Mock Test before the Examination. Mock Test will prevent you to fail in Final Examination. After clearing CA Intermediate, you can enroll yourself for the CA Final.

CA Final –

CA Final is the last and most difficult level of Chartered Accountancy course. Do not get overconfident after clearing CA Intermediate that now nobody can stop you from becoming CA. Most of the students stuck into this course at this level only. Along with CA Final, you have to mandatorily complete three years of practical training. You can appear in the Final Exam while serving the last six months of articleship training.

It often becomes difficult for a CA Final student to manage studies with the office. But in order to clear CA Final in the first attempt, one has to maintain consistency for the complete three years.

The syllabus of CA Final is vast and could not be completed in 6-7 months. You have to start as early as possible. Join 2-3 subjects coaching in the first year which takes a long time to complete like FR, SFM and Cost. Complete all your coachings six months before the Exam and in such time do as much practice as you can. Three times revision of the entire course is must to clear CA Final Exam.

Again, we will repeat our words here also. Attempt 2-3 Mock Test Papers before the exam to prevent yourself failing in the main examination.

Once you become CA, you can apply for membership from ICAI.

Here you will have to sacrifice a number of things like forgetting your college life, social life, start the office at an early age, handle the balance between coaching and office but once you become CA, all these efforts will get paid.
