Did you know that apples help you get whiter and healthier teeth? While an apple doesn’t replace a toothbrush, eating apples enhances the secretion of saliva, which lowers the levels of decay causing bacteria.

There is a large number of health problems associated with being overweight. Heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes are just a few among them. A diet rich in fibre helps to keep a person’s weight in check and improve the overall health. A diet that is rich in fibre will also satiate a person without the consumption of too many calories.

Additionally, consumption of fruits like apples is considered to be one of the best and easiest ways to help detoxify the liver. Most of the toxins that we consume, whether it is from drinks or food, accumulate in the liver and the liver is responsible for clearing these toxins out of our body. For detoxification, doctors usually recommend fruits like apples over fad detoxifying diets, saying such diets have the potential to do more harm than good. An antioxidant called quercetin that red apples contain can help boost and fortify the immune system, especially during times of stress. Recent studies have also indicated that apples and other fruits help in reducing the likelihood of cataract.
