Should stay-at-home parents send their children to preschool?
Oct 15
Today many preschools have popped up and thousands of kids under the age of four are being enrolled in these nursery schools. Still, not every parent is interested in putting their kids in these schools. Even in this age there are parents who opt for staying at home just to look after their kids’ wellbeing; so that they can give their children all their affection, care and time.
Many of these stay-at-home parents are generally uninterested in sending their kids to preschools. But, the others are either confused or unsure about preschools. After all they have decided to stay at home for raising their children. So why should their kids go to preschools; especially, when these kids are destined to enjoy their parents’ full-care, nurture and attention? Well, if you are once such baffled stay-at-home parent, then it is high time that you learn about the benefits of preschool education.
The fundamental importance of preschools: To start with, preschools act as the foundation for your child’s impending school life. It offers the right tools for a child that help him/her progress academically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually.
A chance for socializing: The enriched environment of a quality preschool will open up many channels and opportunities to your child, by enabling him/her to bond with the kids of the same age. This is all the more important for single children who don’t have any siblings or friends to interact with. In such cases, only a preschool can offer the ground for proper socialization that will help your kid get along with other classmates at school. Your kid will also learn a lot about communication, friendship, sharing, caring for peers, co-operation, getting over shyness and working in groups or teams. These social skills will help your child a lot in the future, when he/she finally grows up.
Learning about the outside world: It is true that today’s children spend less time outdoors, unlike the previous generations. Mostly they stay glued to their videogames or TV shows and only a very few children are interested in playing outdoors. So if you like your kid to explore the outer world, it would be better to send him/her to a preschool that offers enough outdoor time. This is also vital for the health of your child, as playing outside will have a direct impact on obesity and other health problems.
In brief, sending your kid to preschool should be based on your own choice, financial position, and other crucial factors. But, before jumping into a conclusion, do keep in mind that preschool offers many benefits – other than the above mentioned facts. In fact, a quality preschool education will help your child develop the required skills, knowledge, and confidence that will help him/her do well in future life.
