Creating the Right Atmosphere for Research

Jun 04

Research means methodical examination into, and knowledge of, resources and materials in order to set up evidence and to arrive at novel conclusions. A researcher needs to find out gaps in earlier research works and after finding the loopholes he or she tries to find answer to the question that occurs in their mind. The researcher makes an effort to find solution to the problem that is tormenting him or her. Research can therefore be defined as a logical, guarded, experimental and significant examination of theoretical or imaginary propositions about the supposed connections in the midst of events or variables in question.

Research is necessary because it leads to expansion of knowledge by enlightening the world with newly found information that has been unknown.  It is found after research has been conducted by verifying existing facts and materials and thereby establishing new laws and theories related to previous findings. New discoveries are, therefore, going on at a rapid pace. These discoveries create awareness among people about the possible risks that are associated with new technological developments going on all around the world. It brings advancement to the country and the society at large.

Therefore, it can be said that research is very useful for the improvement of our society. In order to make research fruitful we need to create a proper atmosphere which is essential for making an investigation or exploration successful. Firstly, it is necessary to have the building blocks that will enable a researcher to do the research. It is said that doing research is like standing on the shoulders of giants. The giants refer to the research works that have already been done in different fields of studies. Secondly, in order to do a fruitful research it is necessary for the researcher to find the gap in the already existing research works done in specific areas. Thirdly, the key to thriving exploration of acquired knowledge lies in iteration. Iteration means going back repeatedly to the problem or the research question that has provoked researcher’s mind. It involves delving deep in the problem and to try to match the expectations from the research by studying the materials and data available. Fourthly, research is a step by step process which involves reading lots of books, papers, articles, etc. on the subject of research. These are the basic four elements that are necessary to create a productive atmosphere for research.
